Homeplace (A site of Resistance), 2025-2026

Mixed Media Collage

Inspired by bell hooks, Homeplace: A Site of Resistance considers the domestic space as sacred ground.

In these works, home is both theory and practice. A bath drawn at the end of the day. A quiet room. A mother’s presence. A table where stories are told. Within these interiors, Black women build refuge in the midst of a world that often demands our endurance more than our ease.

Through collage and layered imagery, I explore the ways we make home inside ourselves. These spaces hold memory and inheritance. They carry the imprint of the women who came before us and imagine safety for those who will come after.

Here, resistance is not loud. It is tender. It is devotional. It is built in the everyday.
